2012 a record year for Jacksonville cruises
More than 195,000 passengers sailed on cruises departing from Jacksonville Cruiseport (Jaxport) in 2012, a new passenger record. Studies show that passengers enjoy cruising from JAXPORT. Voyages average 120 percent occupancy, and 95 percent of passengers recently surveyed said they would choose Jacksonville for their next cruise departure. (A cruise ship is considered 100 percent occupied when two passengers are booked per cabin.)
In addition, JAXPORT’s cruise embarkation team has built a tradition of exceeding customer expectations. In recent years, Carnival awarded the terminal’s embarkation team highest honors in its Quality Assurance Inspection Program, and the same team continues to earn top honors in the company’s annual guest comment card survey.
The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT), an independent government agency created by the Florida legislature, operates primarily as a landlord, managing the upkeep, improvement and expansion of Port Authority facilities and coordinating their use by private companies. The physical facilities owned by JAXPORT include docks and wharfs, cranes, a passenger cruise terminal, warehouses, paved open storage areas and road connections to the public highway system. The Port Authority provides and maintains the terminals and their equipment and manages the overall use of the facilities.
Parking Information JAXPORT offers secure parking for Jacksonville cruise guests. The well lighted and fenced parking area on JAXPORT property is located adjacent to the cruise terminal building, and the parking area is monitored by JAXPORT security 24 hours per day. Parking is $15 per day per passenger vehicle ($60 for a 4-day cruise and $75 for a 5-day cruise), and $25 per day for oversized recreational vehicles ($100 for a 4-day cruise and $125 for a 5-day cruise). An oversized recreational vehicle is any vehicle that takes up more than one regular sized parking space. Cash or major credit cards are accepted. No reservations are required for parking Handicap parking .
JAXPORT provides designated handicapped parking spaces. Parking is $15 per day per passenger vehicle, and $25 per day for oversized recreational vehicles. Exception to parking fee: Florida Statute allows cruise terminals to charge for handicapped parking, "except any vehicle with specialized equipment, such as ramps, lifts, or foot or hand controls, for use by a person who has a disability, or any vehicle that is displaying the Florida Toll Exemption permit, is exempt from parking fees" In addition, JAXPORT offers year-round cruise ship service aboard Carnival Cruise Lines' ship Carnival Fascination. The Carnival Fascination sails from the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal.
